Pilates and why we need it...

Pilates came into my life in 2006. I had been teaching yoga for 4 years and had recurring injuries from running, surfing and yes, even yoga. My left hip flexor had been pulled and overstretched so much that I couldn’t lift my leg up on its own. The pain was so intense I couldn’t sit still and my yoga practice began to suffer. I still taught but couldn’t practice at the same level of intensity that I had originally. I tried to heal myself and saught the help of a Chiropractor, Massage Therapist (who told me about the psoas) and finally tried acupuncture but the pain stayed.

My friend PAge Seiffert , a Pilates Teacher, told me to get into her classes pronto! So I did and I learned about 🔥 up my glutes. Six months later i was able to walk, sit in a chair for more than 30 min, and even take a Teaser! I dived into Pilates headfirst and haven’t looked back. In 2012, I took the journey into training, learning and finally teaching Pilates and incorporate it into my yoga practice and teaching of both Yoga and Pilates.

I have to say the journey has been a long and interesting one and it’s saved me both physically as well as my state of being.
